Student Life
Student Conduct & Justice
The Office of Student Conduct is responsible for developing and administering a Code of Student Conduct that supports the College's values, goals, and priorities. Marist-Italy is committed to providing an environment that promotes academic learning, institutional and personal integrity, justice and equality. Marist-Italy considers all Marist-Italy students as partners in the responsibility of creating and maintaining that environment.
Our Student Conduct philosophy informs students of their responsibilities as members of the community, involves students, faculty and staff in administering the judicial process, and assists all members of the campus community to live and learn in an environment that is orderly, peaceful, and supportive of individual growth and development.
Students found in violation of the student code of conduct or resident handbook will be held accountable following the judicial process outlined in the student code of conduct. Students wishing to better understand the judicial process should consult the Student Conduct FAQs or consult their resident director. Students wishing to participate in the student conduct process as a student justice should follow the directions below.
Student Justice Program
What is a Student Justice?
Student Justices are a select group of students who volunteer to serve on judicial boards for the Office of Student Conduct. All students who are selected to serve receive specialized training on the College's judicial system, the hearing process, and sanctioning. Student Justices are drawn from all majors. Justices contribute a great deal to the Marist Community. Service in this capacity provides a wonderful opportunity for students to develop critical thinking, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
How do I become a Justice?
Student Justice selection takes place every spring semester. Student Justice applicants must:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student
- Maintain a GPA of at least 2.5 (strongly preferred)
- Conduct oneself in a trustworthy, professional and confidential manner
- Successfully complete the application process
