Students majoring in Studio Arts at Marist’s Florence, Italy branch campus will find Florence provides the perfect backdrop to expand their understanding of art and artistic techniques. Students will be exposed to some of the world’s most recognizable masterpieces, including Botticelli’s Venus located at the Uffizi galleries, and Michelangelo’s David at Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze.
Florence and the surrounding Tuscan countryside is the ideal background for those interested in studying studio arts. Students are given the exciting opportunity to draw and paint the city’s iconic architecture, historic and contemporary art, and vibrant Florentine culture.
The Studio Arts Bachelor’s degree offers undergraduate students the same opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy, birthplace of modern humanism and the cradle of the Renaissance civilization, as the Fine Arts Bachelor’s degree with a Studio Arts concentration. However, the Studio Arts degree program presents students with a stronger emphasis on studio work versus the Fine Arts degree’s focus on liberal arts courses.
Studying Studio Arts Through a Bachelor’s Degree in Florence, Italy
By majoring in Studio Arts, students will develop their individual creativity through various art courses, including art restoration and conservation, photography, painting and sculpture. Students studying studio art will explore both contemporary and traditional approaches to art making as part of Marist’s comprehensive Studio Arts Major curriculum.
Marist Italy prepares Studio Arts students for the competitive labor market by focusing on developing students’ art skills, and providing the tools necessary for success within their chosen field. Students majoring in Studio Arts have gone on to pursue careers as illustrators, art directors and 3D modelers.

Earn Your Bachelor’s Degree Abroad at Marist’s Florence Branch Campus
Marist’s Branch Campus at the Lorenzo de Medici Institute provides the only four-year U.S. Bachelor’s degree program located in Florence, Italy. Students can choose from eight majors, including Bachelor of Science in Studio Arts. All courses are taught in English by international faculty. Students are expected to take major-specific courses as well. Marist’s recognized core-curriculum is designed to develop undergraduate students’ critical thinking, writing, and communication skills. This provides undergraduate students with a balanced education, preparing them for either continued education or a professional career. Additionally, Marist provides Studio Arts Bachelor’s degree students with a well-rounded experience focused around a wide range of student clubs and societies, organized cultural events, field trips, and site visits. Students are also given access to academic assistance, such as library and computer facilities.
