Marist to Host Tenth Annual Enterprise Computing Community National Conference (6/17-6/19)
May 16, 2018 — In collaboration with their academic and industry partners in the enterprise computing, Marist College will be hosting the tenth annual Enterprise Computing Community National Conference, June 17-19, 2018.
Initially funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation in 2008, the Enterprise Computing Community (ECC) brings together over 1500 representatives from industry and academia to propose changes to undergraduate curricula, addressing skills shortages in large systems computing, and to develop ideas to introduce computational concepts earlier in a student’s educational experience. The 2018 conference themes are Disruptive Technologies in Enterprise Computing and the Internet of Things (IoT).
“Industry and government are struggling to attract new technologists to replace aging workers who manage the enterprise computing systems that are vital to continued economic growth and national security,” said Dr. Roger Norton, Dean of the School of Computer Science and Mathematics at Marist. “This will leave gaps in the workforce in a variety of areas critical to our country: banking, commerce, healthcare, public safety, transportation, and the military.”
During this two and a half day event, participants will hear keynote presentations from Donald Duet, President and COO of Vapor.io; Irving Wladawsky-Berger, Emeritus, IBM and Visiting Faculty, MIT; Markus van Kempen, Executive Architect & Venture Capitalist, IBM; and R. Todd Christner, CEO and Founder of TWENTYSEVEN SEVENTEEN. The conference will also feature a variety of technical presentations, panel discussions and plenary sessions and excellent opportunities to network with students, faculty, vendors and industry professionals.
There is no cost to attend the conference or to join the ECC community thanks to generous corporate and academic sponsors. 2018 Gold Sponsor is IBM. Silver Sponsors for 2018 are NewEra Software, CA Technologies, and Mainline Information Systems. Vicom Infinity is the Bronze Sponsor and the University of Arkansas is the Academic Sponsor.
