January 23, 2024 — What made you say YES! to Marist? That was the question we asked in last week’s edition of Inside Marist. We’ve featured some of your responses below!

Saying "YES!" to Marist was an obvious choice when it came to picking my college. The campus is beautiful and feels exactly like home to me. I enjoyed the positive atmosphere and the ready-to-help staff who guided me through my application process.”

I hitchhiked up to Poughkeepsie one weekend where I saw the crew teams practicing on the Hudson on a beautiful, calm day. That's all it took, plus scholarships from Marist and a Regents Scholarship from New York State to get me to send in my application. And, the rest is part of my history.

The second I drove up to the campus and saw the view of the Hudson River in brisk fall weather, I knew Marist was the place for me. I really didn't even bother applying to other schools because I knew for a fact that this is the place I wanted to spend the next four years of my life at.

My parents then took me to the school for a visit and I was hooked. It was the right size, a beautiful campus and just the right vibe. And it changed my life. The size of the school allowed me to make lifelong friends and be involved in everything that I had a desire to try.

When I first stepped foot on campus, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I chose Marist because for the ability to be academically challenged while supported by professors and other faculty both inside and outside of the classroom. I am seeing the realization of this decision now and I couldn’t be happier with my decision.

Saying “YES!” to Marist was very easy for me after my first tour. Witnessing the campus’s beauty and the joy on everyone’s faces, including my tour guide, allowed me to envision the best four years of my life, and indeed, it turned out to be just that.

I decided to attend Marist having worked for IBM East Fishkill during the 1980s when IBM offered me the opportunity to get my Master’s Degree. I experienced a fine education with excellent professors and coursework that would serve to forward me in my career. In 1986, I enjoyed being able to have my wedding mass there. One of the greatest joys in my life was seeing my son follow in my footsteps at Marist.
