Phishing: Password expires today 17-09-2021

Why this looks valid

  • The email appears to be from a Marist user or a colleague
  • Marist IT sends similar emails when account passwords are expiring
  • The link goes to a site that includes details such as a Marist College logo and a user's email address

Why this is phishing

  • The link does not go to a Marist website or known college service
  • Awkward sentence construction and typos are good indicators of malicious emails
  • Marist College will never allow users to keep their current password - expired passwords must be changed
