Marist College 72nd Commencement Exercises, May 18 and 19

May 16, 2018 — On Friday and Saturday, May 18 and 19, in ceremonies presided over by President David Yellen, Marist College will confer 1,676 degrees to the class of 2018.
The Saturday ceremony is for traditional undergraduate students; it will begin at 10:30am with a processional, and degrees will be conferred to 1,190 graduating students. The Commencement address will be delivered by Dr. Leonard S. Schleifer, MD, PhD, the Founder, President and CEO of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals.
The Friday ceremony, which begins with a processional at 5:45pm, is for adult undergraduate and graduate students. A total of 486 degrees will be conferred (82 to adult undergraduates; 404 to graduate students), including to the College’s first class of physician assistants. The Commencement address will be delivered by Kevin MacLellan, Chairman, Global Distribution and International at NBCUniversal, and a Marist alumnus, class of 1989.
Academic awards and outside honors for Marist’s class of 2018 include:
-Summa Cum Laude (85)
-Magna Cum Laude (265)
-Cum Laude (390)
-Fulbright Teaching Award (two recipients)
-Goldwater Scholar (two recipients)
-Wooden Citizenship Cup (finalist)
Both ceremonies will be held on the Campus Green. In the event of rain, the Friday ceremony will move to the McCann Arena. The Saturday ceremony will be held outside rain or shine. Livestreaming will be available; visit theCommencement webpagefor more information.
