Marist College recognizes and celebrates the Class of 2022, whose accomplishments have lived up to the institution's mission reflecting years of dedication, hard work, and commitment. Here are some of the Baccalaureate Awards Ceremony recipients who have excelled in the classroom while being active members of the Marist community.


Tenzin Tsundu

Tenzin Tsundu

Tenzin is Class of 2022 Valedictorian and a recipient of the Alumni Leadership Award, given to graduating students who exemplify the spirit of Marist. Tenzin is from Nepal, graduating with a degree in philosophy and business administration with a concentration in finance. Before coming to Marist, Tenzin took two gap years to travel and work with several nonprofits across the Himalayan mountains. During this time, he learned the importance of education and being of service to the community around him. These values served him well at Marist, where he succeeded academically as a member of the Honors program while serving in a number of leadership roles.

Tenzin’s commitment to service has shone through his roles as president of ARCO, and Marian Resident Hall Council, team lead of Marist Consulting Group, Vice president of Academic Affairs in Marist’s Student Government Association, and most recently, as student body president. As the College emerged from the pandemic restrictions, he strove to bring back the Red Fox Spirit by focusing on student engagement, well-being, and collaboration. He has also served on different campus-wide committees such as the Academic Affairs, Academic Planning and Presidential Search Committees, and the Middle States Accreditation. In addition, Tenzin was selected to run the student-managed Greystone Equity Fund and has interned in wealth management with Morgan Stanley. Tenzin hopes to take his experience and knowledge to help nonprofits in developing countries.

Rachel Kane

Rachel is a Salutatorian, who while pursuing a major in political science with minors in global studies and psychology, completed internships at a Congressional office as well as a local law firm. She belongs to the Marist Honors program, Pi Sigma Alpha, and Alpha Chi national college honor society, and worked as an orientation leader and in the Card Services office at Marist. She participated in a wide range of extracurricular activities, including the Marist Singers, Marist College Dance Ensemble, and club tennis team. Next fall, Rachel will be continuing her education with plans to pursue a career in environmental law.

Anna Chase

Anna is a Salutatorian, who is a psychology and criminal justice major with a minor in English literature. She is a member of the Marist Honors program, as well as the Psi Chi and Alpha Chi honor societies. Anna is a trained restorative justice facilitator and co-founded Marist Restorative Circles in 2021, a space for support, inclusive community-building, and open dialogue about difficult subjects. Her research interests include restorative justice, resilience, and mindfulness. Anna will be pursuing her Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Southern Maine. She plans to specialize in substance abuse counseling and obtain an additional Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician/Community post-graduate certificate.
