Marist’s 73rd Commencement Exercises May 24 and May 25
May 21, 2019—On Friday and Saturday, May 24 and 25, in ceremonies presided over by President David Yellen, Marist College will confer 1,719 degrees to the class of 2019.
The Saturday ceremony is for traditional undergraduate students; it will begin at 10:30am with a processional, and degrees will be conferred to 1,208 graduating students. The Commencement address will be delivered by Vanessa Friedman, Fashion Director and Chief Fashion Critic for The New York Times.
The Friday ceremony, which begins with a processional at 5:45pm, is for adult undergraduate and graduate students. A total of 511 degrees will be conferred (103 to adult undergraduates; 408 to graduate students). The Commencement address will be delivered by entrepreneur Henry Helgeson, a Marist alumnus from the class of 1996.
Academic awards and outside honors for Marist’s class of 2019 include:
- Summa Cum Laude (88)
- Magna Cum Laude (266)
- Cum Laude (390)
- Fulbright Teaching Award (two recipients)
Both ceremonies will be held on the Campus Green. In the event of rain, the Friday ceremony will move to the McCann Arena. The Saturday ceremony will be held outside rain or shine.
