Summer Pre-College: Sports Communication
Message from the Marist Summer Pre-College Sports Communication Director
Welcome to Marist College and our Summer Pre-College Sports Communication Program. Here, you can write and learn about sports and the complex systems that take them from the field to your screen. Whether it's writing a game story, practicing play-by-play, or studying the impact of corporate sponsorship in sports, at Marist, we take the growing field of sports communication seriously. If you do too, then there is no better place to spend 13 days of your summer than here. I invite you to explore our campus, study in our library, and play in our gym - in other words, immerse yourself in all that Marist has to offer.
In addition to being the Director of the program, I am currently an Adjunct professor in the Sports Communication department and a 1996 graduate of the program.
I am also currently a Studio Producer at ESPN and will bring my 20 years of experience to the program to give you a glimpse inside the Sports Broadcasting industry. At ESPN, I have worked on events such as the Men’s and Women’s World Cup, the European Championship, the Women’s Final four and the Rose Bowl Game to name a few. I look forward to bringing my experiences to you over the two-week period.
Instruction will also be given by working professionals in sports broadcasting and sports information who will teach students hands-on skills they use on the job every day. Guest speakers from various parts of the sports industry will round out the Summer Pre-College experience.
I look forward to working with all of you!
