Accessibility Information
Marist provides designated parking and seating for guests with limited mobility, sign language requirements, medical needs, or those using a wheelchair, walker, or scooter. Please explore this section for details on how we can accommodate you and your guests.
Accessible Tickets and Seating – Undergraduate Ceremony
Each graduate may request up to two accessible seating tickets from their allotted six tickets on the Hometown app. More information about ticketing can be found here.
Designated accessible seating can be found in multiple areas across the Campus Green. These seats are marked with red bands on aisle chairs or those designed for easy entry and exit.
For guests using wheelchairs, red-banded chairs can be removed to accommodate their needs. We recommend sitting near the upper section of the Campus Green, closest to the Murray Student Center, where there is a paved walkway for easier access to services such as bathrooms and parking.
Commencement team members, identifiable by their Marist Red shirts, will be stationed at each accessible seating section to assist guests.
Directions to Accessibility Parking Lots and Seating
Three parking lots have designated accessible parking: Donnelly Hall Lot, Foy Lot, and Dyson Lot. They can be found using this campus parking map. Please make sure to display your state-issued permit for accessible parking clearly so Marist security officers can guide you to appropriate parking areas.
Parking and seating are first-come, first-serve. You’ll need to allow time to walk/wheel to the university Commencement ceremony. For safety reasons, the campus road closest to the Campus Green is closed during Commencement.
Drop off and pick up option: As an alternative, people with limited mobility can be dropped off and picked up at Donnelly Hall by their designated driver. Marist provides limited golf cart shuttles to and from Donnelly Hall to the Campus Green.
Indoor and Livestream Viewing
Marist offers climate-controlled, indoor viewing of the Commencement Livestream in the following locations: the McCann Arena, Donnelly Hall, Student Center, and Dyson Center. The ceremony can also be viewed online via a livestream here. The Undergraduate Ceremony can run up to three hours long and the indoor viewing areas can provide a nice break from crowds and weather elements.
Sign Language and Captioning
A sign language interpreter will be stationed on the stage during the ceremony. Captioning can be enabled on any web browser you select to watch the livestream. Instructions are available on the livestream webpage.
Wheelchair Rentals
We recommend renting wheelchairs or transport chairs at home to bring to campus. The university does not provide wheelchairs or scooters.
Amenities
The Commencement Courtyard is located between Donnelly Hall and the Student Center next to the Campus Green and provides an accessible bathroom, snacks and beverages, and Commencement-related merchandise. Additional accessible bathrooms closest to the Campus Green can be found in Donnelly Hall and the Murray Student Center [see campus map].
