Sarah Williams
Director of Choral Activities and Senior Lecturer of Music
Bio
Sarah Williams graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Music degree, earned her Master of Music Degree and her Artists Diploma from Binghamton University where she sang multiple operatic roles with Tri-Cities Opera. Mrs. Williams has attended the Aspen Musical Festival as a guest artist. Her past principal voice teachers have been the late Beverley Peck Johnson from the Julliard School, as well as Diane Richardson, also from the Julliard School. She also studied with Kenneth Merrill, Henry (Hal) Gibbons, Dr. Stephen Demorest and Timothy Long. Mrs. Williams has been the guest conductor the Senior High Women’s All State (NY) Music Festival, Senior High NYSSMA Area All State Music Festival as well as several Hudson Valley All County Choirs. She has adjudicated for the greater Hudson Valley Choral Music Day Festival multiple times. She began teaching at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY as an adjunct faculty member in 2006, and in 2007 she became the Director of Choral Activities. At Marist, Mrs. Williams has taught music theory, music history, vocal skills, private voice studio and choral conducting. She is the primary conductor for Marist Singers, a choir of approximately 170 singers that performs throughout the year. She also conducts the Marist Chamber Singers, a select choir that performs extensively throughout the community. Mrs. Williams has toured with her choirs through Austria, Puerto Rico, Washington DC, Kansas City, Orlando, as well as performances at Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall. Mrs. Williams is a member of ACDA, NYSSMA, as well as Kappa Kappa Psi and Mu Phi Epsilon. She currently resides in New York’s beautiful Hudson Valley with her husband and three children.
