February 18, 2025 — From internships to interviews, networking to mentorship, the Marist Center for Career Services is a hub of activity helping students plan ahead in their time as a student and into their professional lives.

Now, in its new location within the Dyson Center, Career Services offers an inviting, collaborative space with more wide-ranging and interactive programs and resources than ever before.

“We are not only preparing students for their first internship or first full-time job, but also helping them develop the skills they will utilize for lifelong success in the global job market,” said Executive Director Mary Jones.

The mission of Career Services builds on years of helping students and alumni attain professional positions and graduate school admissions after their time at Marist.

According to 5-year Marist Outcomes Data, the success rate for graduates within six months after they leave Marist is near 95% over the last 5 years, indicating a high rate of employment, graduate school admission, and attainment of other positions after graduation. Also, 86% of Marist students take part in at least one internship throughout their time as a Red Fox.

"We are fortunate to have this beautiful new space to utilize for expanded programming," said Jones.  “In our new collaborative area, our talented Student Ambassadors help students develop career-related materials such as resumes, and then students meet with our coaching staff to construct personalized, four-year preparation plans.”

Emma Winkler '25, a fashion merchandising major, said that her experience utilizing the resources and expertise of Career Services was incredibly valuable and helped her feel confident as she sought her first internship.

“They provided me with career fair preparation, including resume reviews, industry connections, and insights into the internship process,” Emma said. “This ultimately led to securing my first internship at Bulgari, and from there I was able to leverage connections while staying in touch with Career Services, which helped me attain two more internships at Oscar de la Renta and Ferragamo.”

Matthew Pater, '25, a political science major who interned in the office of U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, echoed Emma’s sentiments.

“Working with career services was essential to helping me secure my internship,” Matt said. “The resume review session was beneficial in polishing my resume and preparing it for review by potential employers.”

For English major Charlotte DelVecchio '25, the process through which she learned about career and internship opportunities with the Career Services team had a big impact, and she ultimately became a peer career ambassador herself.

“I would meet with a Career Coach every 1-2 weeks to discuss cover letters, sort through internship postings, and develop a plan that would help me become the best possible candidate for job,” said Charlotte. “It is due to the Center for Career Services that now, as a Senior, I feel incredibly confident in my ability to find a job in my field and to succeed in this role.”

Peer to Peer Support
The Center for Career Services also offers many opportunities for Marist students to help other Marist students with guidance and advice from their experience with internships and in the professional world.

There are currently 13 peer career ambassadors ready to meet one-on-one with students who are seeking help with internship interviews, resumes, research opportunities, and more.

Benjamin Kurani '26, a business administration major, is a peer ambassador who says that the learning experience from having this role goes both ways between him and his fellow students.

“I enjoy working with my peers to help them achieve their professional and internship goals because I find fulfillment in supporting others as they navigate their career paths,” said Benjamin. “It allows me to contribute to the success of my peers while expanding my own insights into the finance industry.”

The Internship Showcase events also offer first-year and sophomore students opportunities to learn from peers on the processes for applying, preparing, and engaging with internship hiring and other professional experiences.
