New YorkTeagan Nicholson '26 was drawn to Marist for its solid science programs, supportive academic environment, and opportunities aligned with her career goals; its close-knit community and emphasis on real-world applications confirmed it was the perfect fit.
Before pursuing Marist, Nicholson graduated with honors and was Valedictorian at the technical institute she attended. On her birthday, she found herself at one of Marist's Instant Decision Days, where she decided to apply as a transfer student. Two weeks later, she was accepted and awarded a Presidential Scholarship. Reflecting on this experience, Nicholson stated, "Marist had always been my dream school; this experience represented the culmination of my hard work and perseverance, turning my aspirations into reality."
As a Biology major concentrating in Human Biology, Nicholson aspires to become a clinical nutritionist, focusing on helping individuals lead healthier lives through a deeper understanding of human biology, nutrition, and wellness.
She credits her participation in the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) with furthering her professional development and acquiring valuable insights into leadership skills and personal growth. "Meeting like-minded individuals and hearing from successful professionals inspired me to continue striving toward my goals while enhancing my confidence in leadership roles," Nicholson states.
As a transfer and commuter student, Nicholson attributes Marist with having provided her a strong sense of community, reaffirming her original decision to apply. "The support from my professors and peers has been especially encouraging…The hands-on labs and research opportunities have allowed me to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, making my education both practical and meaningful."
"Marist offers excellent resources, faculty, and peer support to help students grow, regardless of their starting point."
