Once this has been accomplished, AACSB then considers each applicant and their potential to actually receive an accreditation. After determining whether or not an institution is capable of receiving an AACSB Accreditation, AACSB mentors, committees and staff develop a Standards Alignment Plan, which a candidate school must adhere to in order to gain accreditation. When all of this is complete, the AACSB Board of Directors and review committees meet to determine whether or not to award accreditation.

In 1998, Marist College launched New York State's first-ever 100% online, AACSB Accredited MBA program.
