Silver Needle Runway
What is Silver Needle Runway?
The Silver Needle Runway is the largest event production presented by Marist College. Since 1984, the show has continued to heighten levels of expertise, professionalism, and creativity. The runway features garments designed and realized by our talented senior Fashion Design students in a professional runway setting.
CEOWorld ranked Marist Fashion #23 in its annual Best Fashion Schools in the World for 2019. Fashionista.com rated the program #21 in their Top Fashion Schools in the World for 2018. FashionSchools placed the program #11 in their 2018 Fashion Design School and College ranking. The Fashion Program educates nearly 500 student majors, studying Fashion Design and Merchandising, and 200 minors in Fashion Merchandising.
Marist offers an in depth liberal arts education combined with a fashion-intensive curriculum, giving Fashion Program students a choice of Fashion Design and Merchandising majors. Minors available to design majors include Merchandising or Product Development. Options for concentrations within merchandising include Fashion Business, Promotion, or Product Development.
Students have the opportunity to spend a semester abroad at the Marist campus in Florence, or pursue fashion studies in Hong Kong, London or Paris, in addition to many other global destinations. Marist Fashion students also pursue internship opportunities with ground-breaking companies both large and small. Students' capstone thesis projects include runway collections created by the senior designers, and comprehensive industry-interactive projects and proposals by senior Fashion Merchandising students.
In November 2018, Marist Fashion began the move to an extraordinary new learning facility. The Steel Plant Studios is a creative oasis for both Fashion and Art. The building provides 50,000 square feet, with technology-filled maker space, collaborative winter garden/cafe, fashion and art galleries, classrooms, design and art studios, Mporium Retail lab, a Create Resources Center, and ample digital labs - all featuring the latest in educational resources.
