MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
The Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling empowers students with the clinical knowledge and skills, and professional dispositions to become Licensed Mental Health Counselors who provide services that make a difference in the lives of the children, adolescents, and adults.
- Small class sizes allow faculty to provide hands-on-training in clinical skills, individualized feedback on professional development, and opportunities to engage in faculty-student collaborative research.
- The variety of clinical training settings allows students to consider placements that include partial hospitalization programs, community mental health agencies, child and adolescent clinics, substance abuse and mental health facilities, and college counseling centers.
Joe Cook, LMHC, MA '15 Addiction Counselor, Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation
The best experience I had as a student was participating in a research study with my classmates and program director Peter del Rosario and then presenting this research to my future peers at the NYMHCA convention in Albany. This experience further demonstrated the Marist faculty's dedication to the field and the MHC program specifically.

While obtaining my masters, I also substitute taught during the day. Although it was a lot of work, it gave me great experience, and I was able to practice the skills I was learning in my courses in real life situations.
The Master of Arts in School Psychology helps to prepare New York State Certified School Psychologists who are credentialed to work in K-12 schools.

The cohorts are small and this is important to me because it gives me the opportunity to establish relationships with faculty and candidates.
