My earliest memory of Marist is...The first time I was at Marist was back in 2014 for an on campus job interview. I remember being in awe of the campus and the view of the Hudson River. Although I did not attend Marist, the campus immediately felt like home.
One of my favorite movies is...The Sound of Music. I don't remember the first time I saw the movie, but I remember falling in love with the characters and the music. I've seen the movie at least 50 times, if not more.
My friends would describe me as...thoughtful, kind, loving, a good listener, and adventurous.
If I could travel anywhere...I'd go to Japan, Thailand, South Korea, and China. I watch so many travel vlogs of Asia and am amazed by the beauty of the terrain, the people, the culture, and the food!
My biggest mentors growing up were…my parents. Both of my parents are immigrants from Syria. Their hard work, love and dedication has always been an inspiration for me. They instilled our culture in both my sister and I's life and it's a big part of who we are.
One of the best things about college is…expanding your worldview through not only classes, but through clubs, organizations, and your community of friends. Every new person you meet in college has something to teach you!
When not busy with things at Marist, I like to…go on long walks and hikes, explore new coffee shops and restaurants, read a book, spin my collection of records (mostly Taylor Swift), spend time with family and friends, and travel when I can.
My message to the students of Marist is…to embrace every opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with others, but also to remember to find times to rest and rejuvenate. College is a time to explore new ideas, challenge yourself, and build a foundation for your future. Take full advantage of the experiences that come your way and remember to stay curious, kind and resilient. And don't ever forget to ask for help if you need it. You are not walking alone on this journey!
