Shannon Walsh, MHC (she/her/hers)
Clinical Counselor
Bio
Shannon is a Mental Health Counselor who earned her master's degree here at Marist College. Prior to earning her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Shannon graduated from SUNY Albany with her BA in Psychology and a minor in Women's/Gender/Sexuality Studies. She has experience working in community-based mental health practices along with prior experience working in other local college counseling centers. Shannon is deeply passionate about social justice and believes that it goes hand-in-hand with therapy. She believes that topics such as identity, systemic oppression, social dynamics and understanding of oneself within those contexts are vital in assisting an individual in their journey with mental health. Shannon aims to work through a person-centered, intersectional feminist lens. She believes in meeting people where they're at, and firmly believes in the power of humor, even in therapy. In her free time, Shannon enjoys doing her best at taking care of her beloved houseplants, annoying her cat, ordering takeout, listening to her music way too loudly, and spending time with loved ones, near and far. She excels at asking people for new show recommendations and then just rewatching an old show for the fifth time.
