Cohn has consistently broken ground for women in sports media throughout her career, creating pathways for the next generation of female sports broadcasters. In 1987, she became the first full-time female sports anchor on a national radio network. She co-hosted the first ever SportsCenter in high definition in 2004. In 2008, Cohn authored a memoir entitled “Cohn-Head, a No-Holds-Barred Account of Breaking into the Boy’s Club,” where she detailed the challenges and successes at the peak of the sports broadcasting landscape. In 2014, Bleacher Report named Cohn one of the 25 most influential women in sports.
Linda Cohn will be joined on stage by Rick Angelo, who currently serves as producer for SportsCenter at ESPN, where he has been for the past eight years. Angelo has 18 years of experience in sports production with CBS, YES Network, CSTV, and other top sports networks.
Dr. Strudler will moderate the discussion with Cohn and Angelo. They will discuss topics ranging from challenges of producing engaging sports media and the ongoing progress made by women in sports media. The discussion will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
