Marist College to Unveil Special Honor for POW/MIA

Anthony Proia, Director of Media Relations

November 18, 2022 – Our country owes our veterans a great deal for their service, and Marist College throughout the years has been committed to honoring the veterans in our community. At this year’s second annual Veterans Appreciation Game on November 27 featuring the women’s basketball team hosting Lafayette, Marist will hold a special ceremony unveiling a new Chair of Honor. The chair will be dedicated to Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action as a permanent reminder of their service and remain vacant at all times to await their return.

The Chair of Honor builds upon a rich tradition of recognizing veterans at Marist. On Veterans Day each year there is an annual flag raising outside Donnelly Hall, and the college community supports charitable causes such as Anthony’s Walk, an event that raises awareness for veterans in need.

All veterans and one guest will receive free admission to the November 27 basketball game, with tip-off set for 2 p.m. Veterans who wish to attend can reserve their complimentary tickets here. Tickets will be distributed on site.

The very first Veterans Appreciation Game took place last year when the men’s basketball team took on Navy at McCann Arena.
