Mon Afrique
Marist hosted its annual Mon Afrique event, inviting the community to celebrate the vibrant cultures of Africa through music, art, dance, fashion, food, and more. As one of Marist’s largest student-led events, Mon Afrique brings together students from diverse backgrounds, fostering cultural appreciation, community building, and networking opportunities. This year’s event featured instrumental and dance performances by Omanye Music Group, a Ghanaian ensemble dedicated to preserving and blending traditional music. Meaning “My Africa,” Mon Afrique provides a powerful platform, creating a memorable and educational experience for the entire campus.

Marist SPC and Marist’s Center for Sports Communication welcomed Gary Cohen, the television play-by-play voice of the New York Mets, to campus for a moderated interview. Widely respected for his deep baseball knowledge, sharp commentary, and engaging storytelling, Cohen shared how his career shaped him personally and enhanced his ability to communicate and connect with others. He reflected on his journey, which began in college, where he learned to set goals, pursue his passion, and seize every opportunity for experience. The event concluded with an audience Q&A, giving students the chance to ask Cohen for insights and advice on sportscasting and beyond.
Marist Singer’s Love In The Afternoon

Marist Singers presented their annual Love in the Afternoon benefit concert, a love-themed musical performance that raises money for local charities and nonprofits. This year, of portion of proceeds were donated to Angels of Light, a charity committed to helping children and families facing life-threatening illnesses, sudden accidents, or loss in the Hudson Valley. The three-show performance, featuring a variety of love songs from Marist’s large choral ensembles, a cappella groups, solos, and small group acts, raised over $6,000 for Angels of Light.
Financial Literacy Week

The School of Management, Student Financial Services, and the James A. Cannavino Library hosted a series of engaging Financial Literacy Week events to enhance students' financial knowledge and build smart money habits. Sessions covered topics such as tax tips, money management, financial tools and resources, and the new Marist Red Fox Financial credit union, empowering students to take control of their financial future. Student Financial Services also hosted Making Cent$, an interactive, hands-on experience where students managed a salary and budgeted living expenses to prepare for life after Marist.
The Marist Sales Team first-ever National Collegiate Sales Competition

The Marist Sales Team made history by competing in its first-ever National Collegiate Sales Competition at Kennesaw State University from March 7–10. Guided by Assistant Professor of Marketing Muzi Lui and supported by industry mentors, the team showcased its talents on a national stage. Elizabeth Jerger '26 and Anthony Comestro '26 participated in the Sales Role Competition, while Kira Lincoln '25, Lilianna Daly '25, and Ben Sleboda '26 competed in the Speed Selling Competition. The event led to exciting career opportunities: Kira Lincoln received a job offer from Lennox, Ben Sleboda secured an internship with construction and engineering company BrandSafway, and the entire team earned multiple interview opportunities.
