The morning began in McCann Arena with a welcome from President Kevin Weinman, and remarks from alumnus and Google executive Goodman Lepota '18 and current Marist student Valincia Hill '26. Admitted students and their families explored campus, experiencing a “day in the life” of a Marist student. Faculty, current students, staff, and alumni welcomed them, sharing insights into Marist’s unique blend of academics and student life.
Attendees toured residence halls, academic buildings, dining options, and athletic facilities; discovered over 80 clubs at the student activities fair; engaged with faculty to experience Marist’s hands-on learning and top-ranked study abroad program; and connected with future classmates at a ZeeMee meet-and-mingle event.
During welcome remarks, President Weinman emphasized the significant decision ahead for these students—choosing where to spend the next four years.
“Marist has tremendous momentum right now as a university on the rise,” said Weinman. “You’ll feel this momentum on campus, today and every day. Marist students, faculty, staff, and alumni are off-the-charts excited about Marist’s future.”
“Marist values itself as an institution of excellence in education, a sense of community, and a commitment to service,” said Lepota, who found Marist while attending school in South Africa. “A place where you are inspired to do more, not in terms of the quantity of things you’re expected to do, but rather, the quality of the impact you have and the relationships you build."
Valincia, who came to Marist from Las Vegas and jumped right into the First-Year Dublin Experience, shared what led her to Marist and why the it’s become so special to her.
“One of the things that makes Marist so special is how it turns everyday moments into lifelong memories,” she said. “It’s not just a place where you go to class and go home, it’s a place where people genuinely care. Professors have emailed me on my birthday just to wish me well, classmates I’d only worked with on group projects have reached out, and the sense of community here never stops surprising me.”
Ring the Bell!
Throughout the weekend, the sound of a bell echoed through the rotunda in the Murray Student Center as the newest Red Foxes secured their spot for the fall semester. Prospective students made it official by ringing the bell, taking photos, and receiving their choice of Marist University merchandise upon committing to join the next incoming class.
Those who rang the bell expressed excitement about officially becoming a Red Fox.
The last Admitted Student Day is set for Saturday, April 12. There’s still time for admitted students to register and attend!
