Student portraits from The Circle newspaper's special project at the Art Gallery

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2017) – "For the Record," an exhibition of student portraits opening at the Marist Art Gallery on Thursday, Feb. 9, is the product of a seven-month initiative by the staff of the The Circle student newspaper.

Circle  Editor-in-Chief Bernadette Hogan '17 writes in a letter introducing the project that it aims to broaden and deepen connections among Marist students: "The idea for this project began with the ambitious desire to inspire the entire Marist community, on campus and around the world. The title is taken from a story written in 1977 by then Editor-in- Chief Daniel Dromm entitled “For the Record, It’s The Circle.” The article detailed a time when the newspaper sought to revive its connection to the student body."

The exhibition opens with a Feb. 13 reception from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and runs through Feb. 24. Gallery hours are 12:00-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The reception and the exhibit are free and open to the public.

The Marist College Art Gallery is located in the Steel Plant Studios on Beck Place. From Route 9, turn onto Fulton Street and make the first right onto Beck Place.
