Anthony Proia, Director of Media Relations

June 22, 2022 – Marist College will be playing host to New York Stage and Film’s (NYSAF) extensive summer programming in Poughkeepsie for the second consecutive year. Long considered one of the preeminent incubators for theater in the country, NYSAF’s season will include more than two dozen public performances this summer.

The program in Poughkeepsie spans from July 9 -August 7, in partnership with both Marist and Vassar College. While last year NYSAF productions on campus were all held outside along the Hudson, this year, Marist will host all shows at the Nelly Goletti Theatre at the Murray Student Center, while Vassar will use its Powerhouse Theater as a hosting venue.

“Marist is very pleased to be moving forward for our second summer engagement with NYSAF,” said Geoffrey L. Brackett, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Marist College. “The arts are a critical component of our Hudson Valley community, and NYSAF’s work with Marist and Vassar College is a wonderful testament to their growing significance for the region.”

Programs include the development of new works in-process, including play and musicals workshops, play readings and various artist residencies. Public performances include new works by Anna Deveare Smith, Josh Radnor, Lily Houghton, Keenan Scott, II and Tre Matthews, Preston Max Allen, César Alvarez, and many more.

New York Stage and Film is a not-for-profit company dedicated to artists developing new stories for theater, film and beyond by supporting responsive processes and by providing a home for artists free from critical and commercial pressures.
