June 19, 2018 — This marks the seventh year that Marist College will serve as the host location for the 2018 Renewable Energy Conference, presented by the Business Council of New York State, The Hudson Renewable Energy Institute, Inc. and the Marist School of Management. The conference will be held on June 26 and 27 in the Murray Student Center.

“The conference has developed into the premier Renewable Energy Conference on the East Coast,” said School of Management Dean Lawrence Singleton. “Renewable energy is not only a crucial issue facing society in the wake of climate change, it is also a business area that will see enormous growth in the next decade. This conference brings together many of the key industry innovators in the renewable sphere and is sure to be a highly informative event.”

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. John E. Kelly, Senior Vice President of Cognitive Solutions and Research at IBM. Kelly’s work at IBM has focused on several of the fastest-growing and most strategic parts of the technology market, including IBM Watson and Cloud Platform, IBM Watson Health, IBM Watson Internet of Things, IBM Watson Customer Engagement and IBM Security. He is also responsible for IBM Research and the company’s Intellectual Property team. Most recently, he spent seven years as senior vice president and director of IBM Research. Under Dr. Kelly, IBM Research expanded its global footprint by adding four new labs (including IBM’s first in Africa, South America and Australia), creating a network of approximately 3,000 scientists and technical employees across 12 laboratories in 10 countries.
